Institute for Regulatory Policy Studies

The Institute for Regulatory Policy Studies, which was created in 1997, serves the electricity, natural gas and telecommunications industries and the regulatory community. The Institute's agenda includes education, communication and research on policy issues of interest to consumers, regulators, and utilities in Illinois and throughout the nation. Activities the Institute engages in to fulfill its mission include

The Institute, which is housed in the Department of Economics at Illinois State University is supported by Illinois State and member organizations through annual contributions. The regular member organizations that provide financial support to the Institute include Alliance Pipeline, Ameren, Citizen's Utility Board, Commonwealth Edison, Constellation/New Energy, MidAmerican Energy Company, MidWest Generation, Midwest ISO, Nicor Inc., Peabody Energy, Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company. PJM, and SBC. Representatives from each of these companies serve on a Board of Advisors, the Workshop Subcommittee, and the Curriculum Subcommittee.
